Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist Needed near Brussels, IL (j-227613) Are you a motivated and experienced Internal Medicine physician with a fellowship in Gastroenterology seeking a locum tenens opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care in a dynamic hospital setting? We’re seeking qualified physicians to join our team and provide vital coverage for in-patient gastroenterology needs in a growing community near Brussels, IL. What You’ll Do: Provide on-call coverage for a variety of gastrointestinal conditions affecting hospitalized patients. Assess and manage patients presenting with acute and chronic gastrointestinal issues, including inflammatory bowel disease, upper gastrointestinal bleeding, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Collaborate effectively with hospitalists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients requiring gastroenterology expertise. Utilize your clinical judgment and expertise to order appropriate diagnostic tests and interpret results. Participate in daily rounds, discussing patient care plans and contributing your specialized knowledge. Work within the Epic electronic medical record system to document patient encounters and procedures. Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients and their families during challenging situations. This locum tenens assignment is focused solely on in-patient care, with no outpatient clinic responsibilities. Qualifications: Active medical license in the state of Illinois (IL only). Board-certified in Internal Medicine with a fellowship in Gastroenterology (required). Current ACLS and BLS certifications. Experience managing in-patient gastroenterology issues in a hospital setting is a plus. Strong clinical skills and a comprehensive knowledge base in Gastroenterology. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teams. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and make critical decisions in time-sensitive situations. Compassionate and empathetic demeanor when interacting with patients and families navigating gastrointestinal challenges. Additional Information: Start Date: ASAP – Ongoing (flexible scheduling available). Coverage includes major holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, etc.) with a call-based schedule.
