Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician Needed: Make a Difference in Rural Virginia (j-232025) Are you a board-certified emergency medicine physician seeking a dynamic locum tenens opportunity in a vibrant community near Glade Hill, Virginia? We’re actively searching for a skilled and experienced physician to join our team and provide exceptional care to patients in a close-knit rural setting. What this Opportunity Offers: Meaningful Impact: Provide compassionate care to a community of approximately 21,000 residents, treating an average of 58 patients per day. Flexible Scheduling Options: Craft a schedule that works for you with a variety of day and night shifts available (12-hours, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM). Nights and weekends are in highest demand, but the opportunity to pick up additional shifts exists. Block scheduling options are not available. Long-Term Potential: Build a rewarding locum tenens career with a contract length of 5+ months. Seamless Technology: Leverage your familiarity with Epic, the EMR system used at the facility. Supportive Environment: Benefit from 24-hour hospitalist coverage, ensuring comprehensive patient care. Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive emergency care to patients experiencing a variety of medical emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses. Conduct thorough evaluations, develop treatment plans, and order necessary diagnostics. Perform essential procedures as needed within your scope of practice. Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to optimize patient care. Stabilize and transfer patients to higher levels of trauma care when necessary. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records within the Epic EMR system. Qualifications for Success: Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM) is mandatory. Alternative board certifications are not accepted. Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS to demonstrate your commitment to patient safety. Valid Virginia medical license to practice medicine without restrictions. Current DEA registration is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients, families, and colleagues. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions. A passion for serving rural communities is a plus.
