Position Summary: The Department Manager – Critical Care is responsible and accountable for coordinating the activities and providing clinical and managerial leadership and clinical skill expertise for the six bed Emergency Department, the Paramedic Intercept Program (PIP) and the three bed Intensive Care Unit. This Manager also coordinates the Emergency Preparedness activities for the organization and the Education Center. He|she contributes to the vision, mission, strategic plan of the organization, and is accountable for the standards of care and practice in the areas of responsibility where clinical nursing is practiced. As a salaried Manager, this position performs managerial duties greater than 60% of the time. The Manager must be clinically competent in ED and ICU nursing skills, including ED triage. Direct patient care services are performed on an as needed basis, typically 10 – 20% of the time. In addition, the Manager possesses knowledge of CMS (HCFA) standards specific to Critical Access Hospitals, New Hampshire Department of Health guidelines, New Hampshire Board of Nursing rules, professional organization standards of practice and the rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Medical Center.

Qualifications:
-Degree in business management or administration preferred.
-Previous management or supervisory experience preferred.
-Prior healthcare experience preferred.
-Proficient computer skills required (EMR, Kronos timekeeping).
-Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).
-Clinical license | certification within State of NH may be required.
-Current registered nurse license in the State of New Hampshire.
-Current BLS, ACLS, and Basic Dysrythmia certifications required
-PALS, TNCC required within 6 months
-12 Lead EKG , MOAB required within 1 year
-National certification in specialty area(s) required within 6 months
-Current clinical experience in area(s) of responsibility for at least five (5) years.
-Previous management or supervisory experience for at least 2 years.
-Current computer software expertise with Microsoft Office products.
-BSN, BS or BA strongly preferred; MS or MSN preferred.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Demonstrates current clinical competence and excellence in clinical practice. Serves as a role model for staff and also provides direct clinical and professional education to staff.
Actively participates with other department managers and supervisors in formulating and implementing the organization’s and the clinical department’s strategic plan and goals.
Actively participates in department manager and nursing leadership meetings.
Brings forth recommendations and concerns from staff and self on behalf of your department to these meetings.
Promotes and ensures open communication among staff members and departments throughout the organization.
Communicates to supervisors and staff organizational goals, departmental goals, recommendations and decisions made by senior management and department managers.
Holds monthly staff meetings to communicate information learned at department managers meetings and nursing leadership meetings. Communicates new policies in draft form and when finalized. Communicates feedback on draft policies back to the appropriate group or committee.
Accepts and satisfactorily completes miscellaneous duties as requested by the CNE and the Administrative team.
