The Director of Surgical Services is part of the hospital administrative team and assists with the organization, direction, management and evaluation of patient care services for the Surgical Service areas.
Responsible for the clinical, operational and financial management of the Surgical Services departments.
Budgetary or fiscal accountability and is responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of units.
Oversees the units operation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care and to maximize patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers.
Develop and review monitoring activities related to the quality of nursing care provided.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Perioperative Services and other areas as applicable, such as Operating Room, Endoscopy, PACU, and|or Central Sterile Processing.
Performs responsibilities in accordance with hospital goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
Minimum 3 years experience as an Operating Room RN, with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated work experience in a perioperative services leadership role, preferably in a Surgical Services Nurse Director role required
Minimum 3 years in a Surgical Services Director role required
Bachelors Degree in Nursing required
Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field highly preferred
Certifications | Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) License and|or other licensure as applicable.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) preferred – must have experience as an Operating Room RN
Must have a minimum 3 years as an Operating Room RN in an acute care in-patient hospital.
Minimum 3 years experience in an OR Director role within an acute care in-patient hospital.
Must be able to work under deadlines and utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage and inspire a team
