Summary:
The Nurse Manager of Emergency Services assumes 24-hour responsibility and assists with the organization, direction, management, and evaluation of patient care services for the Emergency Services Department.
Reports to the Emergency Director and assists with clinical, operational, and financial management of the Emergency Services areas.
Assists with hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.
Assists with development of action plans, and may report outcomes to the Director, CNO, and others as applicable.
Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
Promotes, supports, and facilitates the delivery of compassionate, evidence based nursing care to create an optimal patient experience.
Supervises the total nursing care of all patients on the unit(s) of services and gives the appropriate direction to each staff member to provide quality patient care.
Oversees the units operation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care and to maximize patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
Evaluates personnel, assesses environment, and determines priorities for care in order to plan, implement, and evaluate outcomes of care.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Emergency Services and other areas as applicable.
Experience:
Five years experience in acute care hospital in past 10 years required
Two years managerial or leadership experience in past 5 years required
Education:
Associates of Nursing or Nursing Degree from an approved school of nursing
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
Masters Degree preferred
Certifications | Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS)
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
Trauma Nursing Core Certification (TNCC) preferred
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Certification (ENPC) preferred
Certified Emergency Nursing (CEN) preferred
Special Skills:
Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates ability to assess staff needs and develop objective goals.
Basic computer skills and ability to communicate utilizing computers.
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and supervise staff in a designated unit.
