(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Exercise Physiologist/Kinesologist – Full-time Exercise Physiologist needed at a top facility in Massachusetts!

The primary role of the Exercise Physiologist is to prepare patients for, and to perform|monitor stress testing and cardiopulmonary testing on patients. The position reports to the Nurse Practitioner.

Duties include:
1. Review the medical charts of patients prior to stress test.
2. Greet patient prior to stress test. Clinically assess patient before stress test, obtain informed consent, choose appropriate stress protocol (including Standard or Modified Bruce, CPET, bicycle|ergometer protocols), and notify supervisor in the event that special precautions are needed.
3. For Cardiopulmonary testing, calibrate equipment prior to testing. Prepare patient for test, including application of ECG leads, and for Cardiopulmonary testing, fitting of headgear.
4. Monitor the patients 12 lead EKG, rhythm strips and hemodynamic response during stress test, while obtaining blood pressure readings every 3 minutes. For CPET, monitor oxygen consumption and CO2 production throughout. Determine when to discontinue the test based on ECG findings, symptoms.
5. Recover the patient until vital signs stabilize. Inform the patients physicians of any worrisome changes in the patients cardiac or hemodynamic status.
6. Prepare stress test reports and input into Sonosoft reporting software for the physicians to read.
7. Maintain good record keeping system for all testing performed in the stress lab.
8. Maintain testing rooms with appropriate supplies and equipment make sure rooms are always cleaned between patients.
9. Keep medical equipment in good working order; request repair or preventative maintenance as needed.
10. Apply monitors and instruct patients on proper use of monitors.
11. Process pre-authorization requests on those patients scheduled for testing whose insurance plan requires that we obtain pre-approval for the test. These must be obtained in a timely fashion prior to the test.
12. Maintain inventory of exercise room supplies, and reorders as needed.
13. Assist with scheduling, preparation of charts, and other departmental duties as needed.
14. Perform other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required by the physicians or Practice Manager.

Qualifications:
– Minimum of BS in Exercise Science|Kinesiology; MS preferred. 300+ clinical patient hours required.
– Knowledge and experience running Cardiopulmonary exercise tests (CPET).
– Must possess professional demeanor, strong work ethic and ability to work cooperatively and collegially.
– Critically important to be flexible and helpful in supporting MDs and treating patients. Outstanding bedside manner, compassion, able to work well with patients from all backgrounds and with varying medical illnesses essential. Ability to adapt to changing environment and technologies, important. Being a team player is central. A sense of humor is helpful!
