Job Overview

(Only QUALIFIED Healthcare Professionals accepted) Gastroenterology-NP – Large multi-specialty medical group serving Southeastern New England, has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for their Gastroenterology Practice. The group would prefer a full-time candidate but part-time candidates with experience will be considered.

The successful candidate would be involved in the Divisions office-based practice and in-hospital coverage, depending on training and experience. The team is composed of 6 Fellowship -trained and Board-certified Gastroenterologists and 4 Nurse Practitioners. Procedures and consults are performed at the Hospital and Same Day Surgi-Clinic.

The successful candidate will see patients in the office during the week and in the hospital 10 weekends (1|2 days) out of the year. Provider will evaluate office referrals and hospital consults, order appropriate diagnostic studies, evaluate patients that requires procedures, and care for post-operative patients in office. Provider will also see follow-up patients, both scheduled and unscheduled. To balance the above schedule, candidate will have every third Friday off and 1.5 days off during the week for every weekend worked.

Interest and experience in the following areas is needed: Knowledge in management and diagnosis of Crohns disease and other chronic GI conditions. Knowledge and experience with upper and lower GI procedures. Ability to work in a collegial fashion with referring physicians, specialists, hospitals, visiting nurses and skilled nursing facilities. Comfort working with patients and families. Ability to evaluate lab tests, prescribe and refill meds, and counsel patients and families regarding procedures.

The group participates in national quality initiatives, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and our offices are fully-computerized using eClinicalWorks for scheduling, documentation, e-prescribing, and billing.

The successful candidate must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. hold a valid Drug Enforcement Agency certificate, Massachusetts controlled substances registration, BLS, and ACLS certification and have at least 2-3 years of gastroenterology experience.
