Summary:
The Nurse Manager of Emergency Services assumes 24-hour responsibility and assists with the organization, direction, management, and evaluation of patient care services for the Emergency Services Department.
Reports to the Emergency Director and assists with clinical, operational, and financial management of the Emergency Services areas.
Assists with hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.
Assists with development of action plans, and may report outcomes to the Director, CNO, and others as applicable.
Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
Promotes, supports, and facilitates the delivery of compassionate, evidence based nursing care to create an optimal patient experience.
Supervises the total nursing care of all patients on the unit(s) of services and gives the appropriate direction to each staff member to provide quality patient care.
Oversees the units operation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care and to maximize patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
Evaluates personnel, assesses environment, and determines priorities for care in order to plan, implement, and evaluate outcomes of care.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Emergency Services and other areas as applicable.


Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years Experience in an acute hospital environment required
Minimum of two (2) years Experience in a related specialty unit required
2 years Management experience preferred
Previous clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a Tertiary Care facility required

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field
Coursework|Training General RN competency within 30 days of hire.
Coursework|Training Unit Specific competency within 90 days of hire.
Emergency, 701000-K01: Unit Specific competency within 30 days of hire.

Certifications | Licensure:
Current State Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Emergency, 701000-K01:
ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
PALS (Pediatric Life Support) Certification.
American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN)
TNCC and CEN preferred
Second National Certification in specialty area or Professional Certification in Nursing Administration or Management, as approved by American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission on Magnet
Specialty certification.

Special Skills:
Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates ability to assess staff needs and develop objective goals.
Basic computer skills and ability to communicate utilizing computers.
Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and supervise staff in a designated unit.
