Summary:
The Director of Intensive Care Unit is part of the hospital administrative team and assists with the organization, direction, management and evaluation of patient care services for the Critical Care Service areas.
Responsible for the clinical, operational and financial management of the Critical Care departments.
Interpret policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as is appropriate to personnel, medical staff, patients, and public.
Budgetary or fiscal accountability and is responsible 24 hours a day for the ongoing effective operation of units.
Oversees the units operation to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of care and to maximize patient, physician, and employee satisfaction.
Frequent contact with employees, physicians, customers, community individuals and volunteers.
Develop and review monitoring activities related to the quality of nursing care provided.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Critical Care Services and related areas.
Performs responsibilities in accordance with hospital goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

Experience:
5-7 years acute care nursing experience required
3-5 years Critical Care|ICU nursing experience required
2+ years management experience required

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing required
Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field highly preferred

Certifications | Licensure:
State Registered Nurse (RN) License
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Acute Critical Care Nursing Certification (CCRN); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Advance Trauma Life Support (ATLS) preferred

Ideal Candidate:
Critical Care Experience
Ability to diagnose medical or surgical problems and prescribe treatment for conditions
Provides supervision and leadership to residents, physicians, nursing and other support staff
Provides input to strategic decisions within the department

Special Skills:
Must be able to work under deadlines and utilize independent decision making skills in a wide variety of situations
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage and inspire a team
Computer skills
