The RN will be responsible for delegating appropriate responsibilities to the Scrub Tech. Works with supervisor to develop and implement policies and procedures. Responsibilities The RN will have frequent contact with and often handles sensitive information regarding patient and hospital business and must maintain confidentiality of that information. Must act as an ambassador of public relations for the hospital and the community including patients, families, visitors, and other organizations. Identifies patient, surgeon and staff needs and sets priorities accordingly by communicating, in a pleasant manner, with all involved personnel. Adheres to standards of care, department objectives, and follows hospital/nursing department policies and procedures. Assesses vital signs, sensory impairments if present. Completes a nursing assessment to identify individualized patient needs and problems, plans and implements patient care to meet individualized needs of the patient. Provides assistance to the surgeon and anesthesiologists as necessary. Anticipates and fulfills the requirements of the Scrub RN/Technician and the surgical team. Coordinates use of supplies and equipment for use during a procedure, including scheduling. Supervises and directs patient care and personnel to provide continuity of care and to meet the needs of the patient. Follow Infection Control Procedures at all times. Demonstrates the ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.
