There is an immediate need for an Inpatient Coding Auditor
Full-Time, Permanent Position

Required: 3-5 years of Coding Auditing experience and (CCS or RHIT or RHIA)
Experience Auditing for Multi-System Hospitals

Auditing records/accounts to insure accuracy of the code assignments (ICD-9-CM and/or CPT-4), discharge disposition assignments, MS-DRG assignments, POA assignments, APC assignments and/or modifier assignments.
Identify areas where further education is needed related to potential risk areas for coding quality and communicate this with the education department for formulation of action plans or in-services.
Reporting on the accuracy of the coded and abstracted data elements.
Updating client compliance programs such as SharePoint
Conducting trend analyses to indentify patterns and variation in coding practices and/or severity of illness – case mix.
Conducting internal investigation of changes in coding practices or reports of other potential problems relating to coding
Reports noncompliance issues detected through auditing and monitoring.
Reviews claim denials and rejections pertaining to coding and medical necessity issues. Assists in the development of action plans as well as educational programs to prevent similar denials and rejections from recurring.
Maintains compliance data for PHS an each coding professional.
Validate coding professionals skill sets to review, analyze, abstract, and code records following all official guidelines.
Utilize internal and qualified external resources to clarify coding policies, guidelines and gray areas while adhering to individual client and contracted facility coding policies. Communicate information to remote and contracted coding support teams.
Ability to assess/evaluate coding skills and educational needs.
Ability to fulfill all major activities and performance expectations as detailed in the Coder job description.
Completes other projects and tasks as assigned by Manager
Minimum of three (3) years of various inpatient coding experience MS-DRG expertise required.
One of the following credentials is required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P.
Ability to successfully perform coding quality evaluations to validate correct coding, following Official Coding Guidelines, in addition to the Pyramid Healthcare Coding Quality Policy & Procedure.
Ability to learn and utilize various hospital systems along with an encoder product.
Familiarity with current healthcare based technology and Electronic Health Record. Efficiently complete, comprehend and use PHS coding compliance tools.
Knowledge of various hospital information systems, encoders and other technology to facilitate a virtual work environment while maintaining maximum communication and adhering to HIPAA security standards
Must have access to high-speed internet and be in compliance with PHS Remote Employee specifications.
Must have personal computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point, along with encoding software experience.
Must have the technical skills required to learn and navigate a variety of software systems, trouble-shoot computer problems, install periodic updates to software programs and work efficiently in a virtual environment.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Must possess advanced problem-solving skills.
