Job Summary
Responsible for timely and accurate coding and/or abstracting of all outpatient services or inpatient non-DRG medical records. The Coder III position requires expert knowledge in ICD-9-CM, CPT, and ICD-10-CM coding.
Job Requirements
o Education
o Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
o Experience
o Preferred: Prior hospital coding experience
o Skills
o Must have the analytical ability to interpret data contained in medical records and assign appropriate codes for accurate reimbursement.
o Expert knowledge in CPT, ICD-9-CM, and ICD-10-CM classification systems
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectively
o Demonstrates competency with use of computers and various computer programs
o Visual acuity necessary to read and decipher handwriting and electronic documentation.
o Licensure/Certification/Registration
o Required: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS Credentials
