Job Overview
As the Substance
Use Disorder Counselor, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of
confidential addiction and mental health services, education, and support to
individuals in the communities we serve. The counselor coordinates effort with
the internally team members, and external substance use / mental health
agencies. When applicable, the counselor involves the patient and his/her
significant others in determining appropriate interventions. The Counselor will
be well versed in communicating with internal and external stakeholders and
partners. He or she will also demonstrate the ability to deal with sensitive
information. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with our Core Values,
policies/ procedures, and applicable civil laws.
Required
Education: Bachelor’s
Degree in Social Work
Preferred
Education: Master’s degree

Certifications Licenses:
LCADC, CPC-AD
Preferred Certifications,
Licenses: LCSW-C
Required
Education: Two years’
experience as a substance abuse counselor
Preferred Education: Experience in the substance abuse
field is mandatory
The incumbent
must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: The causes and effects
of drugs and alcohol, and addictions on individuals, families and communities –
Needs and risk assessment – Substance Abuse – Fetal Alcohol Syndrome / Effect
(FAS/E) – Family dynamics – The impact of trauma – Have an understanding of
crisis management and the ability to deal with life threatening situations
including the prevention of suicide – Case management and confidential record
keeping – Generally accepted individual, group and crisis counseling methods –
The requirements of treatment programs available to residents of the community
– Program evaluation and knowledge
