Summary:
The Director of Emergency Services is part of the hospital administrative team and assists with the organization, direction, management and evaluation of patient care services for the Emergency Service areas.
Provides triage and treatment to pediatric, adult and geriatric patients seeking emergency care.
Provides oversight, direction and management for specified areas(s) encompassing 24|7 responsibility and scope of services.
Responsible for the overall planning, organizing, implementing and control of Emergency Services to promote the effective and efficient utilization of personnel.
Directs patient care duties of professional and non-professional personnel, supervises and evaluates work performance to insure optimal patient care.
Interacts with the physicians, hospital staff, outside agencies, patients and patients families|significant other(s) to provide comprehensive care.
Works both independently and interdependently with internal and external customers to accomplish efficient, cost effective, quality patient care.
Supports and promotes the vision, mission, values and strategic plans of the facility.
Establishes and administers policies and procedures in cooperation with other department heads and administrative personnel.
Knowledge and skill in professional nursing theory and practice, including physiological principles involved in the care of emergency and critical patients, principles of teaching and learning, research quality assurance.

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of pediatric clinical ED experience (within the past 5 years)
Recent administrative oversight in an Emergency Department environment; for example, previous experience as an Assistant Nurse Manager, charge nurse or other similar role

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Nursing Administration or related field
Master’s Degree in Nursing or other health-related program preferred

Certifications | Licensure:
Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Certified Emergency Nursing (CEN), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS), Acute Critical Care Nursing Certification (CCRN) preferred

Knowledgeable about disaster management and integration with county disaster response
